Short Film Analysis - Emily

Mystery Gift:
This is a short film by a friend of mine, Christel, a fellow A-level media student; based around the narrative of a video game. From watching this video, I am guessing it was filmed with a mixture of both tripod based footage, and handheld (shown in the opening and in the ending sequence); which diverts away from a linear style of shooting.

There is very little diegetic noises coming from the actual world of the film; instead there is a compilation of famous video game soundtracks. The use of silence is used in the more intense parts to add the element of mystery.

This video would only really appeal to the niche audience of video game players who are fluent with the small extracts of gameplay featured in the different viewpoints of the television. Someone who did not know about the video game industry would recieve a completely different narrative.
